In 2013 during a School Drive on Mina Anod Island we made School IDs for the kids.
Small, simple things that we in the western world take for granted can make a difference to these kids. Having a volunteers take pictures print them out, laminate the cards and attach lanyards gave the kids a great kick and made them feel important! They were all very proud of their new official School Ids and get new ones every year now that they wear with pride!
More than an ID
During the Typhoon that hit the island in 2014 one of the things some of the kids told us about the next year was about how important it was for them to hang on to their School IDs as the weather worsened as it was the only form of identification they had. It was touching to hear how a simple School ID had become so important to them.
